Android 4.2 Jelly Bean brings new features

Google has officially announced its latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform. Yes, it still has the Jelly Bean moniker instead of the previously rumored Key Lime Pie. Android 4.2 is considered as an upgrade to Jelly Bean, but this does not mean that it is not loaded with cool new features.

What You Need To Know:

  • The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean now offers multiple user accounts. Before, tablets were considered as personal devices. Now, it can be shared among family members. With Android 4.2, multiple user accounts can be stored in the tablet. Each user will have their profiles, settings, home screens and apps. This feature is available for tablets.
  • Another cool feature of Android 4.2 is the Photo Sphere, which allows users to conveniently capture panoramic images. The “spheres” can be shared to social media sites and to Google Maps as well.
  • Android 4.2 also brings gesture typing into the mix. This essentially makes typing faster and smoother. This feature has been offered by 3rd party apps for some time. Now, Google adopted this cool feature and improved it.
  • Android devices with Android 4.2 onboard can now have wireless connectivity to HDTVs. This feature requires a wireless display adaptor attached to the TV.
  • The notifications menu on Android 4.2 is taken a step further. Each notification entry is now added with possible actions with a single tap.
  • The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is expected to be featured first in the Samsung Nexus 10 and the LG Nexus 4.
