ODROID handheld game console is an Android powered entertainment device.

The Korea-based company HardKernel debuts its ODROID device in September 2009, and by late October, SlashGear was reporting that the first run of developer units have already sold out at around $300.

ODROID does have a pretty snappy ARM Cortex A8 processor from Samsung clocked at 833mhz, with ample 512MB DDR2 memory, a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen display and 720p video playback through its built-in HDMI output.

This is the first Android device with such a gaming buttons layout.

HardKernel is shipping a developer-focused handheld game device that runs Android and offers source code, schematics, and a debug board. Especially now that both devices have multi-touch technology. But with the introduction of powerful Android devices such as Motorola’s Droid and most recently, Google’s Nexus One, gaming apps and functionality has improved on the device. The fact that the Android platform doesn’t support gaming as well as the iPhone is not new.

Motorola Droid OTA Android 2.1 update appeared in the wild

Motorola has realized that there is a big frustration growing with their subscriber base outside, not only because of the delays with their software upgrade releases, but also the lack of information they have shown in the last month.

Google support goes today live with their phone support for the Nexus One

Not that the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G or the iPhone 3GS launches were perfect, but people expected a perfect launch from Google.

I’ve heard this one before and lots of Nexus One users are waiting for an update to fix the 3G stability issues with the phone.

According to Google, if the hardware is bad then the warranty will cover everything and if its a software problem then a patch will be released ASAP.

Now Google opened their smartphone support hotline

You can reach the support hotline from 7AM to 10PM EST at 1-888-48-NEXUS (63987) this is 1-888-486-3987.

The search company, now also hardware vendor, acknowledged the touchscreen issue and said that its looking deeply into the problem.

However, the issues go away after putting Googles phone into sleep mode, and later on switching it on.

According to the official Google Android forum, the Nexus One are having touchscreen-calibration problems after the handset was cold-booted.

Sadly, some users are experiencing touchscreen issues with the HTC Nexus One.

This is exactly what Google didn’t need: another Nexus One problem.

For technical support, please contact HTC customer care at 1-888-216-4736. For additional details and international support, please visit HTC’s website.

The new Android Mobile OS from Google has very quickly been accepted into the mobile phone market. It has some features that dominate other mobile operating systems, the primary one being the easy-to-understand Software Development Kit that has allowed a large number of computer programmers make Android applications that you would usually have to buy on an iPhone, or would simply be unavailable anywhere else. All of the gloss and shiny parts the android has to offer are really quite useless if you can’t use the phone for connecting to friends. The GPS system that automatically integrates with Google Maps is awesome, unless you don’t know where your friends are hanging out.

That’s where the fun part kicks in.

Facebook

The first thing I wanted to do when I got my Android phone was tell all my friends on Facebook about it. Forget telling them from my computer, I wanted to tell them from my new Android phone. I had to search for the right app to do it with, and I found several options. The first one to catch my eye was the Bloo projectBloo is simply gorgeous, and is so much like the Read the rest

3D Games and Graphics on Android So Far

For the longest time, the vast majority of games available on mobile phones were as basic as can be. With only two dimensional, low bit graphics, they were sometimes not even playable or enjoyable. These limits were usually set due to the small processing power available on a mobile phone. Even though phones have seen a fair amount of technological advances, often the phones would be limited to two dimensional graphics, limiting their appeal more than a few times. The Google Android in particular did not see enough of an advance in technology until recently. Now a few three dimensional games are beginning to pop up that can be played on the Android, which is a great breakthrough for the mobile gamer who just needed to have Google’s phone.

The Android developers provides an update of the Android 1.6 platform to revision 2, which “includes new features for users and developers, as well as changes in the Android framework API….”

The SDK-Tools have also been updated by the Android developpers to the  revision 4 these updates mainly fixes bugs in the SDK-Manager.

Updating the SDK-Tools and SDK-Manager includes also an update of the Eclipse-plugin ‘ADT 0.9.5‘ read more about the latest at this ADT Plugin Notes.

Xavier Ducrohet the Android SDK Tech Lead states

“…developers of applications affected by the behavior changes should start compiling and testing their apps immediately.”

Go ahead and update today and start compiling to develop the greatest Android-apps.

Are there any hints, experiences, thoughts and critics out there?

Comparisons to the iPhone-SDK? Are there links available?

In my mind is Android-SDK vs. iPhone-SDK. “SDK showdown: iPhone vs. Android” I am interested in that because of you know Gartner says Android sales to outstrip iPhone’s by 2012 (2012 is this not the Mayan date of the end of our world?) and because of I want to know what you think about programming on both platforms iPhone-SDK and Android-SDK
