Can you really make a comparison between Google’s new HTC-Nexus-One and Apple’s iPhone-3GS? Apple iPhone fans can’t await Apple’s new iPhone 4G

The HTC Nexus One was introduced recently to rave reviews. Some claim HTC could add more features to the Nexus One, which at present, are not working on Apple’s iPhone 3GS.

“Comparing the two smartphones is not fair.”

First watch the video, which has been brought to us by PhoneArena.

This video compares the HTC Nexus One vs. iPhone 3GS

“…so you can get a good idea of their similarities and differences,…”

The opinions still differ, some love their new HTC Nexus One phone and other would never swap their iPhone with any Android phone.

When Apple will release the iPhone 4G, will it kick and will it pass on the HTC Nexus One?

Engadget has uncovered some new features on Apple’s new iPhone OS 3.2

CoreGraphics to PDF API for sure, printer API is being prototyped

Spell checker in text fields and web views using AppleSpell

multiple languages

grammar checking (English-only so far)

address book integration

user added words

SDK access

Included dictionaries: Apple Dictionary, New Oxford American Dictionary, Oxford American Writer’s Thesaurus, Shogakukan Daijisen, Shogakukan Progressive English-Japanese Japanese-English Dictionary, and Shogakukan Ruigo Reikai Jiten (may also be used for a Dictionary app perhaps?)

USB Host support or expanded Bluetooth support

PTP support for transferring images

MobileStorageMounter (perhaps used for PTP; perhaps used to mount external USB storage?)

Hardware keyboard: USBKeyboardLayouts.plist

Much richer text API including low-level access to font data and highlevel support for drawing formatted text

Support for querying attached screens and choosing which screen a window draws on (App Store approved?)

The beginnings of file upload in Safari

Location-sensitive ads are being prototyped in integrated Maps application (and applications that use the maps framework)

Ability for applications to modify the standard cut/copy/paste menu

“Handwriting keyboard” is being prototyped.

via “Confirmed: iPhone OS 3.2 has support for video calling, file downloads, and SMS (update: handwriting keyboard?)” (Engadget)

What is your opinion will Apple fall behind Google, as shown with their latest coup the iPad, where people expected more features.

Rumour roundup about Apple’s iPhone 4G new features

image via iphone-4g-rumeurs

It is unbelievable that the iPad Can’t Play Flash Video. Also, the possibility that the iPhone OS 3.2 is iPad-only makes it easier for the iPhone fan to wait a little while longer for more impressive features.

There is one big advantage that the Google’s Android OS has against Apple’s iPhone OS… Google’s Android OS is open source. Making the source available to all programmers and would be software developers, will lead to more developers, more inspiration and more features.

A very smart move in our humble opinion.

The ‘Motorola Droid’ caught a lot of attention in the last months, therefore I thought to research the web a bit to make this YouTube video, comparison review list.

Most of the information in this post are about ‘Motorola Droid‘ comparison with the BlackBerry Storm 2, the Nokia N97/ 900 and my other favorite Droid the HTC-Droid Eris.

Another way leads to the ‘iPhone 3GS’ which has been compared with the Droids and with the ‘Palm Pre’, the ‘Palm Pixi’, the HTC Touch Pro2 Windows Mobile and the Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2 smart-phones.

Motorola Droid Vs. RIM BlackBerry Storm 2

The launch of the Motorola Droid in November ’09 wasn’t very useful for BlackBerry Storm 2. The ‘BlackBerry Storm 2′ was RIM’s second attempt to try to offer an alternative Smartphone, which should compete with Apple’s famous iPhone. Now Motorola’s Droid smartphone receives plenty of attention, that the launch of the BlackBerry Storm 2 falls into oblivion.

In this video Jon Rettinger aka jon4lakers from technobuffalo.com compares the functionality of the Browser and Browser speed, the Text entry, customization, navigation and apps on these both smart-phones.

The Motorola (An)Droid has the better Browser rendering plus the right screen which wins against BlackBerry’s baby screen. The page load on 3G and Wifi is on The Droid much faster than on the BB. The Storm’s keyboard is much better to use then Motorola’s soft and hard keyboard.

The Blackberry Storm 2 looks much more compact, but I would prefer the bigger screen of the Motorola Droid over the BlackBerry Storm.

I also would prefer that the OS of the Motorola Droid is open source, while the BlackBerry OS 5 is not.

Android’s open source software allows adding widgets without restriction, which is a smart way of customizing your Droid’s Desk very easy.

Load your Android 2.0 applications via the Android Market.

The Black Berry Storm limits the added Widgets to 8 and the applications on the Webstore seems also be a bit more expensive then the commercial apps for the Android phone.

The HTC-(An)Droid Eris vs Motorola Droid

Motorola Android vs Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2

The Eris is a very cool smartphone with pretty much the same characteristics then the Motorola Droid has. The Motorola Droid has a faster processor, but I’m not quite sure if this makes such a big difference, because the speed difference seems to be very low.

Besides the bigger screen, the pictures on the Motorola have a much higher resolution and the fact that the Motorola Droid delivers a 16 GB SD card, that makes an advantage against HTC’s Droid Eris by as much as 8gb. You may also like this Side-by-side comparison

If the N900 has a better overall look-n-feel it depends on your taste, when you are a music lover, you will like the FM Radio/Transmitter and the 32 GB memory.
“If you use Backgrounder you will see that the iPhone always starts the browser so it always runs in background. When? you let the opera on the hd2 open in background it s open as fast as on the iPhone 3gs… otherwise good review thx”

Game Makers and the groundbreaking features of the improved iPhone 3GS hardware!

moconews posted “How Game Makers Are Coping With The Introduction Of The iPhone-3GS”

“…, companies now have to decide whether to start developing separate versions of each game for the different platforms, or whether to just release upgrades—as well as how to best allocate resources in the future.”

Best example for such a Gaming Company I’ve picked from Moconews’ choices (Digital Chocolate, EA Mobile, Sega) is EA Mobile

“EA Mobile: The company plans to create new versions of existing games for the 3GS so that people can play “no matter which iPhone or iPod touch a consumer has,” according to Travis Boatman, EA Mobile’s VP of worldwide studios.”

via

More examples:

“EA Mobile bringing Madden, Wolfenstein to iPhone” via CNet or “EA, Sega On iPhone 3G vs 3GS” via Kotaku to show a few examples which influences iPhone 3G has right now.

“One of the (many) groundbreaking features about the iPhone has been its singular hardware design—which has made it easy for mobile game developers to create one title that works across all iPhones.”

We all know which influence Apple’s iPhone could have on the Gaming industry and all gaming interested iPhone user.

Cellular and wireless

UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)

GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)

Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

etc.

iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3GS Gaming

Another good iPhone review from Wired “Apple iPhone 3GS“

“Speed, Smarts Keep iPhone 3GS at the Front of the Mobile Race”

“…and it was clear that web pages loaded faster. In the case of a game like Tiger Woods Golf, the boost is significant enough to make me more likely to play when I don’t have much time.”

This reminds me of one of my thoughts about Browser Games (Wikipedia) in general.

Andro’s thoughts about browser games on iPones or SmartPhones:

“We don’t need to buy any new controller or need toupdate our games anymore. Everything what we need is a fast internet connection – cheap for sure, best’d be for free-, and a fast microprocessing SmartPhone HW.”

No problem with our fast growing technical knowledge in internet technology and micro[nano” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen> processing”

iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3GS Gaming

“Cameron demonstrates the differences between the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in gaming.”

Can you see feel hear the improvements?

“… its faster processor and higher speed chipset, has introduced a bit of fragmentation.
My question is

Are Game Makers really Coping With The Introduction Of The iPhone 3GS?

In my opinion the Gaming Industry is happy with the new growing iPhone/ Smartphone market place where they can sell their new sepcially for the iPhone-3GS developped games.

This seems to be a huge market for the next years.

Don’t forget there have been sold 1 million iPhone-3GS till 22th June via apple.com

The iPhone 3GS jailbreak for Windows, with OSX shall follow soon, which allows the installation of third-party software which must not be approved by Apple’s appstore.

George Hotz stated in his post that:

“Normally I don’t make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn’t worth waiting because you might have the “last” hole in the iPhone. What last hole…this isn’t golf. I’ll find a new one next week.”

@geohot aka [George Hotz] mentions in his headline that ”I make it ra1n“

“Yes, this is what you’ve all been waiting for. A jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS. And it’s awesome. To get started right now, go to purplera1n.com. Download it.”

@geohot You are right, finding security holes on the iPhone isn’t golf and If it would be golf, this game wouldn’t end at the 18th hole, would it?
