Ice Cream Sandwich now on almost 16 percent of Android devices

After a month of aggressively releasing updates, 16 percent of Android devices are now running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is a huge improvement compared to last month where Ice Cream Sandwich was found on almost 11% of Android devices. However, it is still a long way from surpassing Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

What You Need To Know:

  • 60 percent of Android devices still run on Gingerbread. This is lower compared to 64 percent of last month. The Gingerbread was first released on December 2010.
  • The latest Android OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, is yet to be found on many Android devices. Jelly Bean is on merely 0.8 percent of all Android devices. However, this is expected to increase as Samsung begins to roll out upgrades to existing users.
  • The numbers from the earliest Android OS until the Froyo have barely changed.
