Samsung Galaxy S3 surpassed 20 million global sales in 100 days

Considered as the only smartphone that surpassed the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has reached an important milestone this week. According to an announcement from Samsung, its flagship phone has achieved 20 million global sales in 100 days since it was launched last May. This puts pressure to Apple who is gearing up to launch the iPhone 5 in the next few days.

  • To crunch on the numbers, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has surpassed the 10 million sales at the end of July. Since then, the device has doubled that amount and surpassed 20 million sales on Sept 6.
  • According to Samsung, 6 million Galaxy S3 phones were sold in Europe, 4.5 million in Asia, 4 million in North America and 2.5 million in Korea.
  • Together with the sales announcement, Samsung also revealed 4 new colors of the Galaxy S3 namely, amber brown, garnet red, sapphire black, and titanium gray.
