Security experts find Android phones vulnerable to attacks
Hacking Android smartphones is a walk in the park as demonstrated by security experts at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas. Gathered at the event are about 6,500 corporate and government security technology experts to learn how their own networks could be vulnerable to unauthorized infiltrations.
What You Need To Know:
- Accuvant researcher Charlie Miller demonstrated how Android phones are susceptible through its NFC feature. He has developed a postage stamp sized device that could be placed near a cash register. Android phones within the proximity are easily infected.
- Google has already fixed most of the bugs and added security features. However, most Android phones are not installed with the latest updates.
- Security firm Trustwave also demonstrated the vulnerabilities of Google’s “Bouncer” technology that identifies malicious program from Google Play.
